IV Therapy in Marysville OH (Northside Columbus)

      What is IV Therapy?

      IV Therapy Marysville OH

IV Therapy is a medical technique used to administer nutrients, medications and fluids when rapid distribution and increased absorption is the goal. IV access avoids the first-pass metabolism in the liver. IVs are safe and are commonly used to provide nutrients for those who are unable to consume food or water by mouth (e.g., coma patients). IV Therapy can also be used to correct electrolyte imbalances and rehydrate the body. At Synergy Medical, IV Therapy is used to deliver nutrients.

The delivery of nutrients via intravenous access can be one of the most powerful tools for transforming your health, especially if you are suffering from a chronic condition.

Beginning in the 1900s, intravenous therapy (IV Therapy) was used in hospitals, and later in ambulances and doctors’ offices, because it was the fastest way to deliver medications and replace fluids throughout the human body as they are introduced directly into the circulatory system and thus quickly absorbed. More recently, providers have employed IV therapy as a method for delivering vitamins, amino acids, and other essential nutrients to the body.

With IV Therapy, the bioavailability and concentration of nutrients is higher in the body, making absorption much easier and quicker. When nutrients are given via IV therapy, the rate of absorption is approximately 92% vs. only 45% (or less) when supplements are taken orally. This is a tremendous difference, especially when you have a specific concern you are trying to address.

IV Therapy Options at Synergy Medical

At Synergy Medical in Northside Columbus, we have introduced multiple new infusions in our practice that can be immensely helpful for patients. There are, however, some stipulations and precautions with IV therapy. For that reason, we will collect a health history from patients and discuss their IV Therapy options, based on their needs and health goals.

While many IV bars have a "menu" and the client chooses what they want, we want our patients to understand all the options while also relying on our medical knowledge of their conditions and precautions to help them choose the best option.

Here are some of our IV Therapy options:

      • Mini-Myers & Standard Myers - Once someone has tolerated the Mini-Myers, their second infusion can be a traditional Myers cocktail. The traditional Myers offers higher concentrations of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), magnesium chloride, and calcium gluconate. This combination can be great for overall wellness, improving fatigue, sleep, headaches and even fibromyalgia. Generally, people begin to feel better after this infusion, improving their energy levels that day and the day after and their sleep. To notice a difference in the symptoms of a chronic disease state, at least three infusions are normally necessary.
      • Get up and Go - Provides an energy boost and can improve your metabolism. After six weeks of weekly infusions, most people feel noticeably better and see a difference in overall energy levels. Some even experience weight loss.
      • Immunity Boost is very popular in the fall and winter and brings excellent results. It has helped to prevent worsening illness, speed up recovery, improve energy levels and sleep during illness, and provide protection for those around others who are sick. The Immunity Boost is not an instant fix, so it is offered as a package of 3 to be administered a week apart during a peak illness. Some of our patients have great results getting it monthly during cold/flu season or during allergy season as a preventative.
      • Alpha- lipoic acid (ALA) is a tremendously powerful antioxidant. It is an essential fatty acid found in every cell of the body. It is a free-radical scavenger, which means that it finds all of the oxidizing stressors in the body (those that cause inflammation, aging, and deterioration of the body) and helps to get rid of them. It is incredibly effective in decreasing inflammation for chronic diseases such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, headaches/migraines, and heart disease. ALA can be used as an intensive therapy to combat neuropathy, neuro-degenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s dementia, Parkinson’s), chronic disease progression, and cellular aging.
      • Glutathione or L-Glutathione, is a powerful antioxidant, comprised of amino acids, cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid, that has many functions in the body. Glutathione levels naturally decline as we age, especially if stress, malnutrition and environmental toxins are factors in your life. Vital to mitochondrial function, glutathione is necessary for the production of DNA. Its unique ability to cross the blood-brain barrier means it plays an important role in removing toxins like mercury from the brain and other areas of the body. It is key in supporting immune function, metabolism, forming sperm cells, tissue building and repair, and certain enzyme functions. Because it is poorly absorbed in oral form, It can be added in a “push” at the end of an IV session. It can help boost your results by helping drive out toxins and decreasing oxidative stressors that damage healthy cells and contribute to aging and certain degenerative diseases.

*Both ALA and glutathione patients can have a sickly after-effect due to the body flushing out toxins but usually does not last more than 1-2 days

      • Vitamin-D IM (intramuscular) shot - is a great essential nutrient for our patients living in Ohio because most of us are deficient in Vitamin D due to lack of proper nutrition and lack of exposure to sunlight . This injection can help combat fatigue. Your Vitamin D levels will be monitored with labs. This is a shot that can be administered even if you are doing infusions as well. It is a quick five-minute procedure and a good introduction to experiencing how nutrients in forms other than oral can be helpful. Vitamin D is also a good immune booster. Some studies have shown an increase in the severity of flu and covid symptoms in patients whose vitamin D levels are low.
      • B-12 IM shot -This injection can be great for energy and boosting metabolism. B-12 is a water-soluble nutrient, so if you have more than your body needs, it will simply excrete the excess in your urine – with little to no risk of overdose.
      • Lipo-Mino Shot - Includes a special lipotropic fat burning combination of methionine, inositol, choline and B12. Each of these ingredients help the body transform fat into energy. In addition to the lipotropic blend, Lipo-Mino also contains a mixture of B vitamins which further helps to facilitate fat loss and increased energy. The formula is made complete with the addition of ingredients to reduce appetite, build muscle, and promote a healthy immune system. We use this injection with our Healthy Habits patients, and is a powerful way to introduce people to our IV therapy by giving them this metabolism-boosting shot.

      How IV Therapy Works

Because illness or chronic conditions can be caused by numerous factors, there is no one-size-fits-all approach with IV Therapy. The first step to any treatment is to come to an accurate diagnosis. Then we can target which type of IV Therapy is right for you.

Your provider will provide instructions on how to prepare for your appointment. Some medications like anticoagulants or NSAIDs may need to be stopped.

The entire IV Therapy process, which includes preparation and infusion, takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Because IV Therapy delivers nutrients that may trigger a cascade of biological responses, you may experience some soreness or swelling in the infusion area. This heightened discomfort is normal. We recommend taking it easy for a few days after your treatment.

      Is IV Therapy Safe?

IV Therapy has an outstanding safety profile. There is no risk of disease transmission. Talk to your provider before the procedure if you're taking any medications that may be an issue or if you experience any severe discomfort after your treatment.
