With the Memorial Tournament this past weekend you may have heard that it’s host, the golf great Jack Nicklaus, recently underwent stem cell therapy. Here at Synergy Medical, we have a similar treatment we perform known as regenerative cell therapy. It is a noninvasive procedure where a naturally occurring serum, amniotic allograft is injected into the joint. Amniotic allograft is a combination of mesenchymal cells, hyaluronic acid, and cytokines. These stem cells are harvested from scheduled cesarean section births. The powerful growth factors in these cells help to promote new cell growth when injected into the tissue surrounding the joint. This helps to reduce pain and inflammation while also increasing the cartilage inside the joint to smooth the joint and allow more comfortable movement.

Our Synergy Medical Team utilizes on-site x-ray and diagnostic ultrasound, along with a thorough physical and orthopedic exam to determine if you are a good candidate for Regenerative Cell Therapy (RCT). Many patients who have been told they have severe arthritis and need a knee or hip surgery (replacement) or even shoulder, elbow, wrist, or ankle surgery, are getting great relief and experiencing better results than they expected with RCT.

Since we are kickstarting your body into building new tissue, it does take some time for the new cellular regeneration to take place. Some patients report dramatic improvement in just a couple weeks, while for others it may take up to 90 days or more. Each individual case is unique and timing depends on your age, the severity of your condition, and many other lifestyle factors. During your consultation and evaluation, you will be informed of what to expect. Most patients describe a temporary pinching and then burning sensation when they receive the injection.
